Is it acceptable to rely on one of your customers to give you a call when something goes wrong with one of your pumping stations?


It may not be an acceptable way to operate but until now it has been one of the only economical ways of indicating that there is a problem with a pumping station. It would be ideal to have a telemetry system on each one of our pumping stations but until now the high cost and the need for IT support has been a significant deterrent.


What makes this situation even worse is that flashing beacons on pumping stations have become somewhat of a collectable item for bedrooms and other locations. This means that often the problem only becomes evident when you have an overflow or a backed-up pipe system and consequent damage to properties and surrounding areas.
